A talented schoolboy has won a creativity award in a national poetry competition.
Georgio Thoedorou, a Year 7 pupil at St Andrew the Apostle School, in Oakleigh Road South, earned praise from judges of The Poetry Games 2014.
Georgio's poem, A Prisoner's Death, will be published in an anthology of poems by young writers aged between 11 and 18-years-old.
He was presented with a certificate of merit during a special assembly celebrating books last Thursday.
Assistant headteacher and head of English Michael Vassiliou said: “We are so proud of Georgio and hope this is the first of many external awards our students will achieve.”
