Children with special needs will jet off to Disneyland after a supermarket helped raise £4,000 for their club.

Potters Bar Children with Special Needs Group were given the cash by Sainsbury’s Darkes Lane branch this week.

Staff at the supermarket spent two years asking shoppers to donate money to the cause, holding activity nights, book and cake sales and awareness days.

Manager Paul Stephens said: “It’s certainly touched the hearts of many of them that before didn’t necessary have a direct link to them.

“We know what an important part they play in the community and we hope the two year-long partnership has helped remind our customers of the valuable service they provide in Potters Bar.

“Thanks to the partnership, we’ll certainly now be looking into ways we can support them in the future."
