Shoppers can grab a bargain at the same time as helping support a historic cause at a new charity shop.

Terapia, a training centre in child psychology and counselling, will open the charity shop in High Road, North Finchley, on Saturday.

Proceeds from the shop will go towards the restoration of The Bothy, a historic building in the grounds of Stephen's House & Gardens in East End Road, Finchley.

Terapia announced in 2012 that it would convert the grade two listed building into a new centre for the charity, including training and therapy rooms as well as sensory and play rooms.

The new location will also allow Terapia to provide free psychotherapy services to children and young people in the community.

Beren Reid, a fundraising volunteer with Terapia, said the restoration should cost approximately £1million.

Describing the importance of the new shop, he said: "It puts our name out there so that people know about the company more and also about The Bothy. And it's going to be like a permanent fundraiser."

The charity shop will sell a variety items including clothes, toys and books.
