A karate coach is celebrating after being shortlisted for a sports award.

Barnet’s Sellathurai Ganeshalingham is in with a chance of winning a prize at the London Awards for Sport & Physical Activity which will be presented at Lee Valley VeloPark on Wednesday.

Mr Ganeshalingham, who has been nominated in the inspirational performance of the year category, is a karate practitioner who provides coaching to students of all ages.

The London Awards for Sport & Physical Activity celebrates the clubs, organisers, coaches and volunteers that contribute towards sport and physical activity in their local communities.

This year’s awards will be hosted by television presenter Caroline Pearce as well as headline speaker Montell Douglas, British sprinter and current British record holder for the 100m.
