HRH The Princess Royal spoke to people recovering from mental health problems during a visit to an Edgware charity.
Princess Anne was invited to JAMI, in Deansbrook Road, to find out more about the work the Jewish charity does.
The organisation focuses on helping people recover from mental illnesses using activities such as gardening, meditation and outings to gyms and museums.
Princess Anne spoke to the centre’s residents about what the service means to them and the invaluable part it plays in their lives.
And before speaking to the charity’s carers group, the princess was shown a canvas designed by people who are overcoming mental health issues.
Jami merged with charity Jewish Care two years ago and treats 1,200 people a year.
Chairman Douglas Krikler said: “There’s no health without mental health.
“This service makes it possible for people to live a fulfilling life away from mental health stigma.
“ A positive attitude towards mental health helps reduce that stigma in our community, and other communities.”
Mr Krikler also praised the occupational therapists who give up their time to help and support the centre’s users.
After the Princess left, the charity’s chief executive, Laurie Rackind said: “The staff and occupational therapists are all wonderful.
“This shows how important it is to talk about mental health.”
