Samba music blared as children and adults soaked up the sun during a school’s annual summer fair.

St Paul’s, in The Ridgeway, Mill Hill, held a Rio-themed event in a nod to this year’s World Cup, which is currently being held in Brazil.

Exotic dancers dressed in glittering colourful costumes, samba danced across the school field with headteacher Anthony David.

Parent Rachel Fidler, who organised the event, said: “It was amazing, it went beyond my wildest dreams.

“It was a lovely balance between feeling like a community, having fun and raising money for the great school at the same time.

“We were overwhelmed by all the support we had, it was fantastic. The cocktail bar and the dancers really added to the Brazilian atmosphere.”

Estate agents Godfrey & Bar, in Mill Hill, sponsored the whole event, which was also supported by Blavo & Co.

People were also able to test their balance on a surf simulator, provided by The Laboratory Spa in Mill Hill.

Mrs Fidler, whose children, Dora and Jack, both attend the school, added: “It was months and months of midnight planning and putting it together.

“It was a real labour of love, but it was all worth it and I’d like to thank everyone who helped make it such a success.”
