Developers will launch a second public exhibition to showcase plans to build 2,900 new homes on a former Metropolitan Police site.

Representatives from Redrow London will be on hand to talk to people about the plans for the Peel Centre site in Colindale this evening as well as on Friday and Sunday at the RAF Museum in Grahame Park Way.

The proposals include plans for new homes alongside four hectares of public space including a new “neighbourhood” park, as well as a primary school and nursery, health centre and supermarket.

Redrow also wants to develop shops, restaurants and cafes in Colindale Avenue, and is considering making improvements to Colindale tube station, upgrading road junctions and new bus stops.

James Moody, managing director of Redrow London, said: “Our plan is to create an exciting new “heart” for Colindale and a place that local people can call home with commensurate facilities that add value to their lives.

“In the first public exhibition in February we asked local residents what they think makes a great community, we have listened and as a result we will be delivering everything a neighbourhood needs to flourish – including great pedestrian and cycle links, a park, cafes, shops and restaurants, a supermarket, a primary school, space for a health centre and other community facilities.”

In the first phase of the development they plan to build more than 500 homes, comprising of two, three and four bedroom flats and houses as well as apartments.

The public exhibition will be held in the art gallery at the RAF Museum from 6.30pm to 8pm tonight, from 11am to 4pm tomorrow, and on Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.

The Metropolitan Police Service is retaining part of the site to develop a new training and operational facility for policing.
