A student overcame tonsillitis to achieve high GCSE results.

Alisha Gohil, who attends The Compton School, in Summers Lane, North Finchley, achieved seven A*s, two As, one B and one C – despite sitting her exams shortly after getting out of hospital.

Alisha, 16, said: “I’m relieved. I got A*s in all the subjects I wanted.

“I was really ill during my GCSEs. I got tonsillitis before my exams, and ended up in hospital. I had it for about a month. I started my GCSEs straight out of hospital.

“I was really worried, as I was so worn out afterwards. I gave the exams everything I had.”

She plans on going to The Henrietta Barnett School for sixth form, where she will study A-levels in classical civilisation, English literature, history and psychology. She eventually hopes to go to university to study English or history.

Alisha said she was really nervous about getting her results.

“I tried keeping occupied during the summer, but the closer it got, the more worried I became.”
