We all love a good takeaway and in Barnet you can find the best of the bunch.

The borough's hungriest bellies have spoken - four Barnet restaurants have been voted into the top 10 takeaways in North London.

2016's British Takeaway Awards (BTAs), run by delivery website Just Eat, are pitting restuarants serving food from far and wide against each other for the ultimate title.

Family-run Caribbean restaurant Pumpkin Rice Jerk Grill, in New Barnet, leads the pack havingreached the finals in 2015 .

Joining them is Bengal Bertie’s, an Indian/Bangladeshi in North Finchley, Kabul City, an Afghan in Edgware, and Pandan Thai Kitchen, a Thai in Golders Green.

Kabul City manager Anah Mojadiddy said: “We are thrilled at all the votes we collected from our customers and hope they will support us in the next round.

“This is fantastic news and we are proud to represent our area at the awards.”

North London’s selection is the most diverse shortlist, nominating nine different cuisine types, more than any other region involved in the British Takeaway Awards.

The winner of each of the 13 regional lists will win £1,000 while one of those winners will be crowned best British takeaway and also take a £5,000 cheque home.

Graham Corfield, UK managing director of Just Eat, said: “The awards are all about recognising and rewarding the diversity and excellence of the nation’s takeaway industry.

“Making it to the top ten best takeaways restaurants in North London is a great achievement as it means their customers think they are providing great food and excellent customer service.”

The next stage of the awards has now launched and the general public has until October 24 to vote for which of the takeaways they think has what it takes to be the best in North London.

The top five takeaways in North London will make it to the national awards ceremony.

Votes can be cast at the BTA’s website here.
