Snooker legend Jimmy White visited Whetstone Snooker Club on Saturday for an exhibition night and faced off against several of the club’s members.

‘The Whirlwind’, pictured, played single frames against different opponents and was even beaten by Whetstone member Mark Bell.

Professional players Anthony Hamilton and Mark Burden regularly practice at the club in East Barnet and Whetstone manager Huseyin Okfuz said the duo played a role in White’s visit.

He explained: “They obviously know him so got in contact and he was happy to come down. It was a really good evening and he called us the next day to thanks us.

“We had Steve Davis come down last year and now Jimmy White. We would be very happy for either of them to come back again.”
