Wingate & Finchley cruised through to the semi-final of the London Senior Cup with a convincing 5-1 win over Redbridge.

The last time the sides met Redbridge won 3-0 in 2011 in a cup shock. Wingate exacted revenge last night with youngster Jack Read stealing the show with two late goals.

The Blues took the lead in the 12th minute. Danny Hart was released down the right wing and crossed into the area.

Centre-back Tyron Thomas was under pressure from Adam Bolle and inadvertently rifled the ball beyond his own keeper.

The Motormen were playing well though and Patrick Damali levelled the scores six minutes later as he headed home.

Wingate hit back and Ola Sogbanmu played Hart through and he poked the ball beyond the advancing goalkeeper. 

At the other end Bobby Smith had to be alert to save at his near post from winger Ben Bradbury.

The chances kept flowing as Hector Morante saw a header parried away but he went one better five minutes before the break.

Spencer McCall found the Spaniard on the left flank and he cut inside and slid the ball in to the net. 

The start was of the second period was played at a slow pace and the first good chance arrived after 65 minutes when McCall crossed into the area and Bolle headed over.

Wingate were forced into changes through injuries and Read, Joe Sharpe and Marc Henry were introduced.

The trio were responsible for the two goals which eventually followed to seal the convincing win.

Henry found Read and he showed great composure by calmly rolling the ball home.

Three minutes later the substitute earned his brace.

Sharpe advanced down the right wing and fired a low cross into the middle. Bolle was at the near post but could not connect and the ball fell to Read behind him who again found the bottom-left corner to round off the scoring.
