Barnet Elizabethans left it late to clinch a 15-12 win at Old Millhillians in Herts/Middlesex One on Saturday.
The home team had gone ahead in the 35th minute as the Elizabethans pack were penalised at the scrum and the home scrum-half ran through the retreating Barnet players to score.
It was a narrow lead that was held until the break and Old Millhillians ran in a second try shortly after the restart.
Elizabethans regained their forward control throughout the second period and, midway through the half, they were rewarded as scrum half Sanjay Dewan chipped through for Glyn Bayley who ran on to score a converted try.
Barnet were now in the ascendancy and they levelled the contest with six minutes remaining as Bayley was released by Matt Nicholas and he went over for his brace.
The two sides were level at 12-12 in the closing moments but Dan Outram’s late drop goal secured a narrow win for Elizabethans.
