Finchley were held to a draw at high-flying Ealing in the Middlesex Premier Division on Saturday

The hosts won the toss and elected to bowl first but Finchley were able to make 223 for nine in their allowance of overs.

George Charlton opened the batting with a knock of 75 before Francois Haasbroek (47) and Sayed Bukhari (38) built up the score.

After a strong start, the visitors faded away and the tail-enders were unable to build on the good work from those higher up the order.

Kristian Martin had some joy with the ball for the hosts, taking five for 68 from his 19 overs, which included four maidens.

Ealing started sluggishly in reply, with opener Oliver Wilkin making just 13 before being dismissed.

Mylo Wilkin made 64 before he was run out and Luke Stoughton chipped in with 24 as Ealing struggled to 174 for seven.

Sumeet Sharma was Finchley’s most effective bowler, taking three for 28, whilst Haasbroek claimed two for 29.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Stanmore were held to a draw at home against bottom-of-the-league North Middlesex.

Having won the toss and inserted their visitors into bat, Stanmore made early inroads when they removed both openers for a combined total of six runs.

Third man in, Evan Flowers, made 55 but by the time Mahruf Chowdhury (2) was dismissed, North Middlesex were 56 for five.

A knock of 44 from tail-ender Will Nicoll helped the visitors close on 189 all out.

Abishek Kulkarni finished with figures of five for 46 for the hosts.

Steve Mehra (51) got the hosts off to a solid start but the reply faltered when Stanmore found themselves at 38 for four.

Jimi Chialoufous added 54 runs to the total of 143 for five as the hosts ran out of time.

Andrew Balbirnie was the pick of the North Middlesex bowlers, taking two for 39.

Ninety from Harrison Palmer helped Potters Bar to a four-wicket win over North Mymms in the Hertfordshire League Premier Division.

In a rain-reduced innings, hosts North Mymms opened the batting with a score of 222 for five.

Hamza Qayyum was dismissed for just three but Nesan Jeyaratnam dragged the scoring along from 40 for two, falling just five short of his century.

Rhys Carter added 74 to further add to a respectable total.

Liam Gough opened the visitors’ innings strongly, scoring 65 before Palmer weighed in with 90.

Qayyum did his bit to slow the scoring with three for 58 but it was not enough as Potters Bar won with four wickets in hand.

In the Championship, bottom-of-the-league Totteridge Millhillians claimed their first win of the season, beating West Herts by seven wickets.

Visitors West Herts struggled with the bat and found themselves at 40 for three following the quick-fire dismissals of Anthony Griffin (9), Alistair Lewis (16) and Avinash Mane (1).

An unbeaten 81 from tail-ender Craig Sanders, plus good knocks from Ian Gurney (52) and Barry Marshall (41) saw the away side finish on 254 for eight.

Kafi Kahn (three for 43) and Ramesh Subasinghe (three for 47) did the bulk of the damage with the ball.

Vishal Bhimjiyani (54) and Justin Le Fort (34) started the Totteridge innings strongly before Steve Selwood (85 not out) and Dean Bermingham (50 not out) took the scoring to 255 for three to win the contest.

Old Finchleians fell to a second consecutive defeat at Langleybury, giving the hosts their first win of 2014.

Winning the toss after a rain delay, the visitors were well placed at 93 for one thanks to Chetan Depala’s Senior (38) and Junior (43).

Their dismissals sparked a middle-order collapse and Old Finchleians slumped to 129 for seven.

Some good shots by skipper Matt Fletcher (39 not out) and Ritesh Depala (15) enabled Old Finchleians to recover to a respectable 193 for nine after 55 overs.

Big-hitting opener Mansoor (72) enjoyed a good day at the crease, including six fours and four sixes, putting together a partnership of 103 with Josh Roe (38) to take the game away from the visitors.

The bowlers tried hard but the damage was done and it was skipper Soulsby (38 not out), who saw Bury home with plenty to spare, reaching their target with six wickets in hand.

In Division Three, Old Elizabethans suffered a six-wicket loss at home to Sawbridgeworth Seconds.

Batting first, Old Elizabethans posted 261 for eight in their 48.2 innings.

The visitors wasted little time in chasing down that score, reaching 262 for four in 38.2 overs.

Top-of-the-table Mill Hill Village completed a comfortable ten-wicket victory at Stevenage Thirds in Division Seven to record a fifth consecutive win.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first on what proved to be a lively pitch, with the Village’s opening attack of David Overton and Andrew Potter in devastating form.

Three run outs did little to help Stevenage build any momentum in their innings but that was the consequence of the pressure built up by the lack of scoring opportunities.

Potter took two wickets in his ten-over spell and conceded just 12 runs along the way, despite the attacking fields employed.

Overton returned figures of four for 38 from 12 overs but most of those runs came from fortunate inside edges and slashes over the slips.

Graeme Burton claimed the final wicket to fall as the home side were dismissed for just 75.

In reply, Hinal Gajjar (25 not out) and new opening partner Greg Vaughan (38 not out) both looked in total control during the chase, overhauling the small total in the 18th over.

The Stevenage skipper tried seven different bowlers in an attempt to disrupt rhythm or find a combination to dislodge the opening pair but none of them paid off.

A selection of well-executed drives and destructive cuts and pulls by both batsmen punished the dispirited hosts’ attack and led to another early finish for the Village.

The win leaves Mill Hill top of the Division Seven standings, 13 points ahead of Holtwhites Trinibis Seconds in second place.

In the Conference Cup Round Two, Stanmore made light work of knocking out Harlow Town, recording a ten-wicket victory.

Opting to bat first, the hosts were removed for 197 after a poor showing from their tail end.

Neil Gladwin top-scored with 59 and Shiraz Ali added 40 but five ducks did not help the cause.

Stanmore wasted little time in racing to the required total, reaching 198 without loss.

Pandaya helped himself to 107 runs and his opening partner added 56 to ease the visitors into the next round.
