Potters Bar's Tara Moore was knocked out in the first round of the ladies singles at Wimbledon on Wednesday by Vera Zvonareva.
Moore, 21, lost to Russian Zvonareva 6-4, 6-7, 9-7 having been ahead in the third set before play was suspended due to bad light.
Tied at one set all overnight, the advantage looked to be with the British number four when she got a break in the third.
Having served Zvonareva to love, the Russian subsequently levelled on Moore's serve.
From there, the world number 566 completed the turnaround to secure her safe passage into the second round.
The wildcard selection was competing in her third championships, her second in the singles, after being beaten by Kaia Kanepi, 7-5, 5-7. 7-5 last year.
Moore was scheduled to play her first round ladies doubles tie against Daniela Hantuchova and Mirjana Lucic-Baroni at 3.30pm on Wedneday.
The Hong-Kong-born right-hander has competed in the doubles event for the last two years but has not progressed beyond the first round.
