Stanmore kept themselves clear of the relegation zone with a draw at home to Brondesbury in the Middlesex County League Division One on Saturday.

Batting first, the visitors eased their way to 112 for three thanks to Will Vanderspar (53) and Christopher Blake (36).

Important knocks from Thomas Kopelman (25) and Robert Nelson (23) late in the day helped Brondesbury to a total of 196 all out.

Mukesh Butt did the damage with the ball, taking five for 54 for the hosts.

Stanmore started slowly and were at 96 for five before Kunal Mehta (33) and Marc Reingold (26) put on 59 to steady the ship.

Unable to chase down Brondesbury’s total, the hosts closed on 151 for five.

Sam Smith finished with figures of two for 38 for the away side.

Bottom-of-the-league Finchley suffered a 137-run thrashing at Teddington, who had Ben Williams’ century to thank for a comprehensive win.

Defeat leaves Finchley rooted to the bottom of the first division after the ruthless hosts declared on 273 for three.

Williams hit an unbeaten 107 and opener James Wade scored 60.

In reply, Finchley were removed for just 136, with Francois Haasbroek (36) top-scoring as one of just three batsmen to hit double figures.

David Keightly and Elliot Hannah both finished with three for 23.

In the Saracens Hertfordshire League Premier Division, Potters Bar suffered a 120-run loss at home to table-toppers Welwyn Garden City.

Openers James Hewitt (54) and Louis Champion (88) provided the foundations for a good innings, with the visitors finishing on 250 for four.

Paul McGee was the only bowler to strike, removing two for 32.

The hosts never threatened with the bat, with only Chris Swainland (43) and Ben Taylor (38) offering any resistance en route to 130 all out.

Owais Shah claimed four wickets, conceding just one run, whilst Scott Walter took four for 38.

Old Finchleians’ summer of batting woes continued with a five-wicket defeat to West Herts at Southover in the Championship.

The understrength hosts were inserted and despite losing an early wicket, Chetan Depala Snr (15) and Chetan Depala Jnr (38) saw them to 60 without further loss.

That quickly became 61 for four before young Brijesh Pujara (27) and Peter Crowe (24) staged a recovery before a few lusty blows saw the visitors removed for 162.

Old Finchleians bowled tightly and at 127 for five were in with a chance. But after a couple of chances went begging, Lewis and Gurnia saw the visitors home on 163 for five.

Totteridge Millhillians enjoyed a 78-run win at home to Langleybury in the Championship.

Batting first, Totteridge were removed for 182 before bowling their visitors out for just 104.

Old Elizabethans made minimal fuss of winning by eight wickets at Waltham Cross Rosedale.

Inserted into bat, the hosts were dismissed for 125, leaving Old Elizabethans to chase down the target with eight wickets in hand.

In Division Seven, Mill Hill Village kept up their title assault with a nine-wicket home win over Baldock Seconds.

Having opted to bowl first, three early wickets for David Overton (three for 60) had the visitors on the back foot.

Naylor (65) and Cooley (50) battled well but Naz Asif (six for 36) helped remove Baldock for 170.

Asif then smashed his way to an unbeaten 116, providing the platform for the Village to secure a comfortable victory with nine wickets in hand.
