Barnet moved eight points clear at the Conference summit after two goals in three minutes saw the Bees come from behind to beat Macclesfield Town 3-1.

Adriano Moke scored with a tame shot in the 41st minute to put Macclesfield Town ahead at the break. The Bees equalised in the 57th minutte when Andy Yiadom grabbed his third of the season, and just three minutes later, the turnaround was complete as John Akinde headed in.

With time running out, Curtis Weston broke away to add the third and secure the points.

And with Grimsby Town only drawing at AFC Telford United, the Bees re-opened an eight point gap between themselves and the chasing pack.

Martin Allen made two changes for the Bees, bringing Graham Stack back into the side following injury and handing Jack Saville a rare start.

Player-coach Stack began in place of loanee Raphael Spiegel following a back injury, whilst Saville stepped up from the bench to take David Stephens’ position.

Yiadom, Bondz N’Gala, Saville and Elliott Johnson comprised the Bees’ defence. In midfield, Luisma Villa, Curtis Weston, Sam Togwell and Lee Cook remained unchanged, as did Akinde and Charlie MacDonald up front.

After a slow start it was Barnet who steadily began to assert themselves on the game more, creating two excellent chances in as many minutes.

The first went the way of MacDonald, who raced onto an Akinde flick-on before drawing a good stop at the near post from Macclesfield goalkeeper Rhys Taylor.

Just two minutes later, Yiadom burst down the right-hand flank, leaving his marker grounded, before cutting back for Akinde who saw his shot flicked over by the head of MacDonald.

Luisma was then twice denied by the sharp reactions of Taylor. Fresh from his stunner at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday, the Spaniard brought a good low stop out of the Macclesfield keeper with a dipping drive, before seeing a curler palmed to safety seconds later.

Scott Barrow – who scored in memorable fashion against the Bees at Moss Rose in October – very nearly opened the scoring when his shot deflected off N’Gala and against the far post with Stack wrong-footed.

Midfielder Paul Turnbull had the visitors’ best chance of the first half an hour when he arrowed a shot at goal from 25 yards which Stack parried away unconvincingly.

Yiadom had been at the centre of much of Barnet’s good play and so it proved again when the Bees went close ten minutes before the break. The full-back ventured down the right before crossing for MacDonald, who after getting the ball out of his feet, shot low only for Taylor block well.

Four minutes before half time Macclesfield took the lead. Moke picked the ball up 18 yards from goal and sent a weak shot past a sea of bodies into the bottom right-hand corner to open the scoring.

Barnet were unable to respond in the remaining minutes of the first half and went in a goal behind.

Chances were at a premium after the break, with neither side managing to put together a move of note in the opening stages of the second period.

However that all changed when the Bees struck twice in three minutes to take turn the game on its head after an hour.

The equaliser arrived after a string of passes saw MacDonald fire in a wicked low cross which Yiadom met on the run to covert from point-blank range.

Just three minutes after equalising, Barnet took the lead for the first time when Akinde rose highest in a crowded penalty area to meet Luisma’s cross following a quick free kick and thump a header beyond Taylor.

A third did not appear to be forthcoming, though Cook did curl narrowly wide from 30 yards following a foul on Akinde.

In an attempt to inject some pace into his forward line, Allen introduced Watford loanee Bernard Mensah in place of MacDonald for the final nine minutes.

The Bees soon switched to five at the back when Stephens replaced Cook, as the Silkmen increased the urgency with which they were playing.

In injury time, vice-captain Weston made sure of the points with a well-taken goal. As Macclesfield pushed for an equaliser the Bees broke away, Weston raced onto David Hunt's through ball to clip the ball beyond the onrushing Taylor.
