Snowdon and Welsh racism

On Sunday 3rd of October about 50 of us including myself climbed mighty mount Snowdon for charity. As we arrived we endured the perilous steep sides of the mountain as well some Welsh racism. You’d think that’s a curious mix of dilemma’s to face, the culinary equivalent would probably be a beautiful soufflé garnished with lamb donor kebab.

Modern day slavery in West Africa, race riots in India and floods in Pakistan. Just some of the recent international headlines coming out of the national media. But looking at those words on this blog, people don’t flinch or even bat an eyelid. The common response would be ‘meh’ before swiftly going on to facebook to look at that friend’s, friend party photo’s at that place, somewhere.

The First day of College

It’s been roughly two weeks of sixth form or college and most people are getting into the flow of the A/S and A levels. Watching the new A/S year settling in reminded me of my attempt to settle into college life. It can be daunting for some, not knowing most of the people around you.

Eaten by The Wolves

The shepherd always tries to persuade the sheep that their interest and his are the same. Substitute hers for his and there you have the summary of what happened at Tuesday’s Council meeting. The Tory lambs returned to the fold so the council leader comfortably won the vote of confidence. I am reminded of the proverb “Who makes himself a sheep will be eaten by the wolves”.

Healthy Apples at New Year

Traditionally we dip apple in honey at the Jewish New Year to symbolically wish for a forthcoming healthy New Year. However apples have a higher nutritional content than perhaps our Rabbis originally believed.

Results Day!

The key is not to get overly happy or overly sad and become sort of monotone human being with no reaction. So rather then being a rainbow of happy or sad emotions become the rainbow’s arch enemy: grey. If it’s 4 A’s or 4 U’s produce that ‘not quite a smile, not quite a frown’ look and you’ll be fine.
