Snow excuses now - here I come Barnet Leisure and LA Fitness

SO, the thing about starting a fitness plan is it helps if the country isn't incapacitated by snow soon after.

And then you get flu.

Still every cloud has a silver lining and in this cloud the fact that I was forced to work from home during the snow means that I feel like I've had a fresh start diet wise.

When you're at home all day working it's so much easier to rustle up something healthy than when you're running the gauntlet of dozens of junk food emporia on the hungry commute home.

And eating hardly anything for three days because getting out of bed and shivering my way through food preparation was just far too much effort, has the effect of making you think that anything at all, no matter how rabbit hutch-like, is a taste sensation.

So now I've got that sorted (sort of) it's time to hit the gym.

Ah GYM, it's a word that strikes fear into the hearts of any right thinking person. It doesn't matter how much I enjoy feeling healthy and know the importance of being fit and active, gyms just remind me of the horror of doing games at school.

There are far too many people with impossibly tight Lycra covering impossibly fit bodies and worse, far, far too many mirrors.

I'm sure most of these people are perfectly nice but every time I go into one of these places I'm convinced that every single one of them is glaring at me with barely suppressed disdain.

I'm hoping the lovely people of Barnet Sports and Leisure and New Barnet LA Fitness are going to help me change my mindset. I've now been an adult longer than I've been at school so really it's about time isn't it.

And so there's no excuses to procrastinate any more.

Tomorrow I go to be inducted - just providing it doesn't snow.
