We have a new chairman on the Finchley and Golders Green Planning sub Committee. Or, I should say that the previous vice chairman has swapped places with the previous chairman. Otherwise the make up of the Committee has not changed.

There are signs of World Cup fever in our staid suburban neck of the woods. Pennants flutter from the sides of cars.Flags of St George are proudly displayed outside houses. Fabio Capello, the England manager, seems to have inspired a level of expectancy in the land that the Three Lions can emerge triumphant.

Now the election dust has settled I am back to provide my take on Council meetings and other local issues. My first Annual Council Meeting was back in 1986. That was before the formation of the Liberal Democrats. There were just three of us. I, Monroe Palmer and Brian Stone flew the flag for the Liberal SDP/Alliance.

Okay, so perhaps I do not have three hundred and twenty six reasons to complain about the bus I take most mornings to my college in Hendon. But admittedly it sounds good, so I’m sticking to it. Barnet – the spires to Brent Cross, the journey that defies belief. Not in a good way I might add. Its , the bus should be here, as I indulge in my chocolate chip tracker bar knowing that any minute now my bus will be here.

Identity Crisis and Crisps

Bright sunshine acted as a welcome support barrier as I headed towards my local newsagent. I choose my preferable choice in junk food that is lacking at home, specifically looking at options for some good crisps. Having witnessing Gary Lineker and JLS on television for a Walkers Crisps advert, I go for Ready Salted.
