Apparently around now the baby can start hearing sounds. I have heard that if you read the same book over and over to the child it might end up becoming its favourite story even before it’s born.

This weekend myself and my husband decided it was time to seriously consider transforming the spare room into a nursery. So, after getting some dodgy measurements for the dimensions of the room (remember to be consistent with centimetres or inches and that opposite walls should really add up to the same length) we took ourselves to look at wardrobes; stage one of the makeover process.

Being a curious person I am so keen to know the sex of the baby, despite opting not to find out.

Wow wow wow. This weekend played host to one of those incredible moments that I’ve been talking about and hoping to experience. I actually felt the baby kick, properly. Not little bubbles popping or butterfly motions but a big fat proper kick.

I have just experienced one of those defining and pivotal moments in the pregnancy period. Yesterday I went, husband in tow, to the 20 week scan.

One of the most exciting things that pregnant people wait for is the moment the baby kicks for the first time. It’s like the moment a bride-to-be finds THE wedding dress; a pivotal and highly emotional point in the process.

I don’t think I’m a snob. Although perhaps some of my friends will say otherwise. But since I grew out of the hand-me-down wardrobe more than a few years ago, I have opted not to buy second hand.
