Wow wow wow. This weekend played host to one of those incredible moments that I’ve been talking about and hoping to experience. I actually felt the baby kick, properly. Not little bubbles
popping or butterfly motions but a big fat proper kick.
It was 8am on Saturday. I had woken up (stupid early I know for a weekend) and was lying on my back as I know this is the best position to feel movement early on. I started feeling fluttering and
prodded my husband just in case he was able to feel it too.
Not entirely impressed at being woken at such an hour he turned over half asleep and I lay his hand on my protruding belly and as if on cue our baby gave its first proper kick. Just under my
husband’s hand and strong enough for both of us lie startled for just a minute.
It was incredible. There’s no other way to describe it. My husband recalls it as the best alarm call he’s ever experienced and I was just overwhelmed with excitement. I’ve been
feeling a lot more bubbles/ baby kicks since but not like that first one. I just think the baby was so happy to have both its parents’ attention that it decided to put on a special little show.
Now I’m just desperate for it to do its magic again.
Apparently at 21 weeks the baby starts practising different facial expressions. Well I certainly have a big smile on my face.
