Was this a joke the BBC were playing but no – there was a resident saying we should give the Borough some continental flair or perhaps it was an estate agent’s campaign to keep property prices up? Remember when Battersea was the yuppie Batter-see-ah or Clapham became Clahm and Streatham St. Reatham? Anyway the various vox pops from locals was clear – whoever was behind it (and it wasn’t the Council) was daft. So there are no plans to rebrand all our signs with an accent above the last e!!!
