A group set up to stop the redevelopment of the iconic and treasured Claremont Road stadium, and to stop the dangerous precedent of improper removal of covenants from public land which has been set by Barnet Council. |

The emailed letter reproduced below is addressed to Barry Hill, Sobell User Representative and Leader of the Group to Keep Sobell Leisure Centre.
"Many thanks, Barry.
I can assure you that we intend to bring a decision to the Executive in the next 6 weeks that will rescind the previous Administration’s policy which was to demolish and redevelop the Sobell Centre as and when market conditions permit. Our policy in the medium term is to retain the Sobell, implement an immediate investment of up to £1.7m; we shall then identify ways in which the Centre can be significantly upgraded and consult users and the public on those options.
Best wishes
