On Saturday 3rd October, 130 local residents and staff descended upon Crown Honda Bushey Heath to take part in a Race Night in aid of Watford Mencap.

Watford Mencap is an independent self-financing local charity that supports people with learning difficulties, their families and carers. The charity believes that people with a learning disability have the right to enjoy equal opportunities.

It was fantastic to have the support of Crown who took on this event with real drive! At Watford Mencap we are a local independent charity and we rely heavily on local business and the community to keep our services running. This money will certainly go a long way towards funding our projects and enabling people with a learning disability to live happy and meaningful lives,” says Amanda Jenshil, Community Fundraiser at Watford Mencap.

The amount raised on the night is still being finalised but it is likely to be in the region of £4,000, almost twice the amount that Crown Honda expected to bring in. This will be enough to fund the charity’s Bumble Club, which is a service for families with a child under five that has a learning disability, for a full six months.

Having used Watford Mencap’s services in the past, I know that the work they do and the support they provide to families of children with learning disabilities is invaluable, and I’m so thrilled that Crown Honda was able to make a contribution that will enable Watford Mencap to keep their services running. I’m also delighted that so many local businesses and sponsors came forward to help out with raffle prizes and race sponsorship, especially the team at Ladbrokes. With their help, everyone truly had a night to remember, and there’s already been talk of another Race Night!” says Lee Monahan, co-Managing Director at Crown Honda.
