Pupils went head to head during the launch of a new schools football tournament.

Held at Sunnyfields Primary School, in Hatchcroft, Hendon, the 2Simple Locality Football Cup saw teams from Parkfield Primary School and Bell Lane Primary School take on the host school to compete for glory.

Sponsored by software company 2Simple, the tournament was the brainchild of IT technician Mohammed Bakouse and PE teacher Robert Bain from Bell Lane.

Parkfield emerged triumphant, with Bell Lane in second place and Sunnyfields third.

Robert Bain heralded the tournament, held on Thursday, June 25, as a great success.

He said: “The kids really loved it, they had such a good time. They were all very close matches.

“We wanted to reward them for their hard work throughout the year, especially during their SATs. It should stick around for many years to come.”

Organisers are hoping to include more schools in the competition next year.
