It’s sometimes hard to remember a world before the internet – a fact exacerbated with the ubiquity of smartphones.  Indeed, there are estimates that suggest within the next four years there’ll be in the region of 5.4 billion devices connected, in some way, to the internet.

Consequently, the days when mobile connectivity was limited to entertainment and fun are over and whilst Pokémon Go and Candy Crush still account for significant smart phone use, many apps are now focused on making lives and business more efficient.

But what does this mean for the property market?  Take Rightmove.  Established in 2000 it’s now one of the UKs top 10 busiest websites and its app is within the top 150 of a marketplace that is larger than perhaps anyone can measure. We know that 90% of property transactions start online and here at Andrews 60% of our online interactions originate from mobile devices – that’s up from 3% just five years ago!

Our website, which we re-launched earlier this year, is of course optimised to make it as impactful on a phone or tablet as it is on a laptop or desktop computer and we know that customers engage positively with it.  When we relaunched it we added a mobile app to our digital offering and we’ve just unveiled the latest update of that which is aimed directly at the lettings market.

Landlords don’t always receive the best press and whilst this is sometimes justified, we know by working with many thousands of them each and every day that they’re mostly pretty decent people.  They do, however, come in very different shapes and sizes.

What unites them, though, is the fact that time isn’t plentiful and the balance between being a landlord, alongside that of a day job and personal commitments can sometimes be a tricky one to achieve.

That is where the “My Andrews” app steps in.  Available on both iOS and Android, it provides landlords with the ability to view each property which they let via Andrews.  It includes details of the agent responsible for each let; access to all tenancy and rental income information; and the ability to keep up to date with new applicants when re-letting a property.

Smart phones are so called as they provide rapid access to information and products which furnish consumers with a more valuable experience.  Mobile banking gives a view in to balances and transactions; travel apps deliver insight in to accommodation, climate and local attractions; and now My Andrews means that landlords have everything they need to manage their rental portfolio quite literally in the palm of their hand.

If you’re a landlord or have considered becoming one then think about what could make the experience a more positive, straightforward one.  To discuss your options as a landlord, why not visit the Andrews branch in Kingsbury, or visit www.andrewsonline.co.uk
