Mess about in boats at the Dacorum Grand Water Festival this Sunday. There will be a free ferry running between Apsley Lock and Frogmore Mill or you can take a short walk along the tow path.

Events at Apsley Lock, Marina and Paper Mill Pub run from 11am to 6pm and special guests include a Paralympic gold medallist, plus there’s the chance to listen to the Umbanda Drum Band, the Hemel Hempstead Band and watch the English Miscellany Dance and Singing Group.

Visitors can also try out kayaking and African drumming, visit the Reach Out boat for the disabled and see the decorated narrowboats. There will also be stalls, face painting and a magician, as well as recycled sculptures and bunting on display created by children from Nash Mills, Southill and Astley Cooper schools.

Over at Frogmore Paper Mill from 11am to 4pm you can have a go at papermaking, letterpress printing, canal art and making masks or boat decorations.

Stay for the parade from 4.30pm to 6pm, as the Apsley Water Pageant sets sail with a prize for the best dressed vessel.
