The arrival of an August bank holiday weekend will soon herald the end of another summer.

But, as people begin to contemplate life without sunshine, there is one ray of light - The Bull's autumn season. Here is a low-down on what is on at the theatre this September.

One sure-fire way to forget the season's dance tunes is to experience a session of less monotonous music. Dubvocaliza may sound like a Polish vodka, but they are, in fact, a band who fuse rock and reggae.

Their breakneck songs, put to gritty poetry, should raise the roof. See them on Saturday, September 6, at 8pm. Tickets are £6.

On Sunday, September 21, at 8pm, Schalom Bakhshayesh celebrates the rich and diverse musical traditions of different Jewish communities with Judith Silver.

Be-bop and ballad beauty Anita Wardell has been likened to jazz vocalist Clare Teal, due to her warm and clear tones. A jazz supremo who has received rave reviews, Anita will perform at The Bull on Sunday, September 28. Tickets costs £8 (£6 concessions).

Turning to drama, The Bull is hosting Out of Bounds. Set in pre-apartheid South Africa, the play depicts an ordinary Indian family and inspects the natural dynamics of family relations.

Nelson Mandela was so enamoured by this work that he asked for a private viewing. Unfortunately, you'll have to put up with the hoi polloi on Friday, September 12, at 8pm. Tickets are £9 (£7 concs.).

The Reduced Shakespeare Company take a swipe at any author who has been published in the Penguin Classics range in All the Great Books. The comedy show has already toured America and Edinburgh, and will be in Barnet from Thursday, September 18, to Saturday, September 20. Tickets cost £12 (£10 concs.)

Dance is provided by Northern Exposure from Tuesday, September 23, to Saturday, September 27. Tickets are priced £7 (£5 concs.).
