New Street Soul Club

BLESS. take to the stage at the iconic 100 Club on Friday for their first London show since touring France. The band were born and bred in North London and with one new addition have reformed from The Supernovas, who developed a solid cult following between 2004 and 2013, playing with the likes of Babyshambles, Billy Bragg, Wilko Johnson and at festivals including Glastonbury, Latitude and South by Southwest (SXSW) in the States.

BLESS. bring their distinct sound, inspired by a range of soul, ska, ‘60s rock and psychedelia to the event, where they will play alongside New Street Adventure and Birdsworth with northern soul DJs playing into the night.

100 Club, 100 Oxford St, W1D 1LL, Friday, May 13, 7.30pm to 1am.

Century Song

Mixing dance, song and digital art this show by Canada’s Volcano Theatre will have their London premiere at the artsdepot. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, and Alice Walker’s In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens, the show imagines a different way to negotiate history. Through the eyes of a soprano protagonist – a kind of modern day ‘everywoman’ – and using visual art and wordless song, the show explores the evolution of women’s identity over past 100 years to the present day.

Contemporary Landscapes

British artists Sophie Levi and Tess Recordon will present natural spots from across North West London in oil paintings. Their artwork is complimentary to the other despite distinct approaches; Sophie tends to go out in the elements as well as finding inspiration from studio life in Camden, whereas Tess works from memory and pours paint to create work with movement.
