Another season of music and dance kicks off at Ivy House next week.

Jonathan Biss, renowned for the expressive subtlety of his piano playing, will give a recital of classical works by Beethoven, Janacek and Chopin (May 4), while Sir Thomas Allen CBE will be in conversation with music journalist and radio presenter Edward Seckerson about his 40 years in opera (May 15).

Lady Deborah MacMillan will discuss her choreographer husband Kenneth’s legacy to British ballet with dance critic Clement Crisp, followed by a masterclass by former principal dancer Donald MacLearly in the part of Romeo, from one of MacMillan’s masterpieces, (June 1).

The Nash Ensemble celebrate their 50th anniversary with a thrilling programme of works by Haydn, Ravel and Schubert (June 8), and you can enjoy a Jazz Cocktail with Tina May, who will take you on a journey from Berlin to Paris to New York via the songs of Weill, Gershwin, Berlin and more (June 12).

Soprano Katherine Broderick evokes the sound of Italy with tenor Alessandro Fisher and pianist Eugene Asti, with works by Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, Gounod, Rossini, Verdi and Tosti (July 2).
