Last month she was busking on the streets of St Albans but this week Abi Murray will be taking to the stage at the Isle of Wight Festival.

The talented Harpenden singer will be playing at the famous music event on Thursday and Saturday, sharing the limelight with bands such as The Hoosiers and Loveable Rogues.

Abi, who played Alive and VDubbin festival in Ipswich last weekend, says: "This is potentially my biggest show yet. The best festival for definite. I haven’t played many but I’ve got quite a lot this year. It’s just really exciting and big."

The 24-year-old is working on her debut EP and the festival crowd will get to hear her self-penned mix of rock-pop and soul, which is influenced by everyone from Led Zepplin to Kelly Clarkson.

Having performed at countless events and open mic nights in the Harpenden and St Albans area, at a charity busking session at the Clock Tower in St. Albans in May and for the Michael Jackson Live tribute tour, Abi says she isn't nervous about taking to the stage at the event which attracts crowds of 58,000 over four days.

"It’s more excitement than anything, just to be moving forward.

"It’s such a difficult industry to be involved in, and you just have to keep pushing and pushing. But it’s a really good opportunity and I hope I can inspire people to listen to my stuff and go on and do bigger and better things."
