Pack up your troubles – the D-Day Darlings are landing.

Used as a place of refuge for evacuated children during World War Two, Harpenden is rich in military history.

Marking 70 years since this nostalgic period, this show is set in the heart of wartime Britain and follows a vocal-harmony trio seeking to get their big break.

It includes renditions of the Songs That Won The War from artists such as Gracie Fields, The Andrews Sisters and Dame Vera Lynn, who is also a keen supporter of the show.

Katie Ashby, the show’s director and cast member, says: “We are happy to be heading to Hertfordshire as part of this year’s tour to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.

“Having done a lot of research into this era, I am touched by the upheaval our ancestors had to face – whether they were evacuated or sent away to fight for our country.

“Leaving loved ones behind, many remained strong through these difficult times whilst upholding their solidarity and community spirit.

“Our show is inspired by this patriotism. It’s an honour to share the music and memories that kept Britain smiling through its darkest days.

“We are also proud to be raising funds and awareness during this year’s tour for the Royal British Legion who continue to support war veterans, past and present.“
