Mew Lab is creating a film for Watford Live!
June is the month for celebration – the Diamond Jubilee, Euro 2012 and most importantly on our calendar – the Watford Live! community festival, which opens with a host of interactive events.
To encourage people to take part, MP Richard Harrington is launching a Challenge Music Cup for local singer/songwriters, which will be run by Pete Curtis from The Horns and will include four heats and a final held at Walkabout in The Parade.
Film lovers will be able to see cutting edge techniques at play in Mew Lab’s digital short The Foggiest Idea, which will include live action sequences to form a background to the 2,000 or so digital frames which will then need to be coloured in.
There will be two open workshops for people to come in and help colour a frame on Saturday, June 16 in the Harlequin Centre, and Tuesday, June 19 at West Herts College.
Watford Filmhouse, meanwhile, is hosting a programme of short films entitled Local Films 4 Local People on Sunday, June 17 at the Pump House.
Other local luminaries taking part in the festival include Watford Philharmonic Orchestra, who will be presenting A Celebration of Cole Porter at the Colosseum.
Meanwhile, Watford Folk Dance Group will be holding taster sessions, and SW Herts U3A celebrates its 10th birthday at St Michael’s Catholic High School, Garston on Saturday, June 23, 10am-4pm.
