Personal Overview - His political experience includes having been a local Councillor in the Hendon area as well as having been a party agent in a number of campaigns across the country. Within the Council he held several senior positions including Deputy Council Leader and was also the Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport.
Political History - Chairman of the Hendon Conservative Association (2004). Councillor, London Borough Barnet (2002-10), former Chairman of the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee. General Election candidate for Barnsley East and Mexborough in South Yorkshire (2001). Conservative Election Agent for Hendon (2005). MP Hendon (2010-). Characteristics - Has been a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, in 2005 he undertook a 2,000 km exploration of the Libyan Desert. He is a keen sailor, having taken part in the Round the Island race off the Isle of Wight for many years as a part of the Welsh Harp's Seahorse Sailing Club. He has also scuba dived in many parts of the world including, several Mediterranean countries, the Caribbean, the Maldives, in the English Channel, off the coast of Cornwall and various quarries and lakes in Lancashire and Cumbria. He has also travelled extensively around the countries of the EU.

Personal Overview - Entered the London Assembly in 2012 winning this seat from the Conservatives after having lost his Westminster seat in 2010 by only 106 votes. He comes from a legal background, specialising in representing injured workers (and their Trade Unions). Prior to entering the London Assembly he also campaigned for the rights of ordinary people to obtain legal redress in the courts as a Co-ordinator of the Access to justice Action Group. He has leadership experience in Local Government (previously Labour Group Leader on Westminster City Council). He has been a member of Action for Southern Africa, the Co-operative Party and the Society of Labour Lawyers. His legal experience also gives him an interest, and probably a certain amount of expertise in civil justice issues. Demonstrated an interest in Jewish affairs in the Westminster Parliament, making a call for legislation to allow for easier remarriage for Jewish women. He also focussed on the campaign to rebuild Edgware Hospital which was completed in 2005. As Chairman of the Joint Committee on Human Rights he was involved in producing reports on the role of business and human rights in the developing world and on the issue of a Bill of Rights for the UK.

Personal Overview - Elected to the European Parliament from third place on the London Conservative Party list. Has been involved running a small business for over 23 years with experience negotiating in in Europe on behalf of her UK clients. She has campaigned to reduce regulation on business, reducing EU waste and fraud and on the sensible managing of migration. She also has experience raising funds for charity, as a former Chair of the Mayor of Barnet's Charity Appeal 2005/06 raising money for the mental health charity MIND.
