Crouch End Open Studios, Various venues in Crouch End, Thursday to May 18, various times
Now in its fourth year, the Crouch End Open Studios event was set up by sculptor Kim Valdez and abstract painter Helen Lindon.
Ms Valdez, who lives in Sandringham Gardens, Crouch End, says: "We felt professional visual artists didn't appear on the horizon in Crouch End. We hear a lot about film, music and the written word, but not visual art. We felt there must be a lot of artists working in the area, and that has proved to be the case."
This year, 31 artists will be showing work at 23 venues in Crouch End, including Hornsey Town Hall, in Crouch End Broadway, and Hornsey Library, in Haringey Park. All venues are within walking distance of the Crouch End clock tower.
As well as showing professional artists' work as it has done in the past, the event will include the work of invited curators and artists, a series of minute-long artists' films, site-specific work, sculpture and installation.
Ms Valdez says: "We wanted to have as high a standard of work as possible - artists who have CVs, who have been to art college, have had exhibitions elsewhere and have been working at it for quite a few years.
"But we also try to get a good spread of different kinds of work. You can walk around all day seeing different kinds of art, asking the artists questions. You don't have to buy anything."
Entry to studios is free. Most venues are open on Thursday and Friday, from 2pm to 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 6pm. Hornsey Town Hall is open on Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 6pm.
