The 60+ Oyster card, activated today, restores free travel for those that reach 60 but do not yet qualify for the Freedom Pass
Londoners aged 60 and over can again travel free on public transport in the capital following the launch of a new travel card.
The 60+ Oyster card, activated today, restores free travel for those that reach 60 but do not yet qualify for the Freedom Pass.
Age qualification for the Freedom Pass, which provides free travel on all Transport for London and some Network Rail services, was raised from 60 to 61 by the government in 2010.
TfL says more than 15,000 applications have been received for the new card, and around 12,000 have already been issued.
Applications can be made on the TfL website www.tfl.gov.uk/60pluslondon.
