Players and staff at Finchley Rugby Club have chosen the North London Hospice as their charity of the year.

Fundraising has already started, with a number of coaches growing moustaches for Movember - proceeds will be split between Cancer Research and the hospice.

Players at the Summers Lane club will wear the hospice logo on the front of their shirts this season and take part in various other fundraisers throughout the year.

Head coach, Chris Galvin, said: “We are really looking forward to supporting this local cause.

“Raising awareness of the needs of others and instilling a real sense of community into the club is something we continue to strive for.”

North London Hospice provides emotional, spiritual and practical support to people whose lives are affected by terminal illness in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

Judi Guy, fundraising manager, said: “We are thrilled to have the hospice logo on the club’s shirts. This is a huge commitment and an excellent way to promote the hospice in the local area. This is a great chance to make more people aware of the work we do.

“We are extremely grateful to the rugby club for their support and look forward to working with them throughout the year.”
