An 85-year-old woman has died after being hit by a van in Edgware.
Emergency services were called to Camrose Avenue at the junction with Methuen Way at 12pm.
An air ambulance and three road paramedics were sent but were unable to save the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
She had been hit by a Volkswagen van.
The male driver of the van was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been taken to a north London police station.
Local road closures are in place, and buses 288 and 688 are being diverted.
