There will be more than just the whiff of petrol and old leather when a classic car lover's informal club holds its next meeting in Hendon.

Diane Lee, of Farrant Way, Borehamwood, is inviting people to the RAF Museum, in Grahame Park Way, Hendon, for her club's next meeting in January.

The 53-year-old started the group in earlier in 2012 after falling splashing out on a red 1970s Vanden Plas Princess.

Since the group had its first meeting last year, around twenty people have been coming from all over London and Hertfordshire to meet other enthusiasts.

She said: “Since I started the club, I have made so many new friends and met so many new people. We all come from various areas which is nice.

“We do not only talk about cars – we speak about family and our jobs and get to know each other, the fact that we all share the same hobby is an added bonus.”

Married Mrs Lee first sparked an interest in classic cars when her husband, 67-year-old Gordon, bought a 1966 Singer Gazelle seven years ago.

The couple are already part of the Watford District Classic Vehicle Club and the international Singer Owners’ Club, but were keen to start their own sociable and relaxed group.

Anyone is invited to turn up to the club’s next meeting at the museum on Sunday, January 13 from 12pm.
