Amateur dramatics group The Warren performs Puss in Boots in aid of Barnet charities
A company of amateur dramatics actors are donning whiskers, boots and crowns as they prepare to take to the stage in their annual charity pantomime.
This year The Warren theatre group is staging Puss in Boots in aid of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in Barnet, Isabel Hospice, The Dystonia Society and Syncope Trust and Reflex Anoxic Seizures.
The Warren has been performing for more than 60 years, supporting charities across Barnet.
Vice-chair Lynne Tyson is this year swapping her notepad and pens for a frilly frock and crown as she prepares to play Queen Desdemona.
She said: “Puss in Boots is going to be a traditional family pantomime filled with lots of songs and fun characters.
“And of course it’s for charity. We try to support local charities wherever we can. National charities get such a lot of support but sometimes smaller ones miss out.
"As we’re a local group and we get people from the community coming to see us it’s a great way to get together to support our charities.”
The team has been busy rehearsing for their big performance since September.
This year’s show will be held at The Bull Theatre in High Street, Barnet, from Thursday January 17 to Saturday January 19 at 7.30pm. There will also be matinee performances on Saturday January 19 at 2.30pm and Sunday January 20 at 1pm.
Tickets cost £10 per adult and £8 per child. To book, contact The Bull Theatre Box Office on 07982 462 668.
