Governors at a Hendon primary school say they are excited about the appointment of a new headteacher.
Alan Shaw will take on the role at Hasmonean Primary School, in Shirehall Lane, from the start of the September term.
Mr Shaw, currently in charge at Moriah Jewish Day School in Pinner, will take over from headteacher Jenny Rodin, who is retiring this summer after 21 years in the job.
Chairman of governors Neil Nachshen said: “It has been a very important decision to make. Mrs Rodin has achieved tremendous results at the school and she will leave an outstanding legacy.
“Building on this is perhaps a harder task than recruiting into a failing school. We were looking with someone with very specific qualifications and we were lucky someone like Alan Shaw applied for the job.
“We’re looking forward to him starting but it is a difficult situation having to say goodbye to Mrs Rodin, who said she was very happy with her successor.”
Mr Shaw has been the headteacher at Moriah Jewish Day School since it opened in 1999.
He previously worked at Ilford Jewish Primary School and has past experience as an OFSTED inspector.
Mr Shaw has so far been unavailable for comment on his appointment and Hasmonean Primary School says Mrs Rodin will not be speaking publicly about her retirement until nearer the time.
