Teenagers bailed after Carphone Warehouse raids in Golders Green and Edgware
Carphone Warehouse in Station Road Edgware where a gang of teenagers snatched 23 mobile phones and a laptop
Teenagers arrested in connection with raids at mobile phone stores in Golders Green and Edgware have been released on bail while investigations continue.
A gang of youths barged into Carphone Warehouse in Station Road on Monday before snatching 23 mobile phones as well as a Notebook laptop.
Two-15-year-old boys were later arrested for theft and bailed until Wednesday evening. Police have now extended their bail – one is due to return to a north London police station on February 9 and the other on February 20.
Following the incident officers have recovered a black bag containing a number of mobile phones believed to be from Carphone Warehouse.
The raid was followed by a similar incident in Golders Green yesterday when a gang of up to nine young men took more than £4,000 of electrical goods from Carphone Warehouse at the corner of Golders Green Road and Finchley Road.
The group then split-up with two thought to have ran up Finchley Road while three more fled into Golders Green station before jumping the barrier and sprinting off down the live tracks.
An 18-year-old and a 15-year-old from South London were caught by Metropolitan Police officers at 12.05pm as they attempted to escape on a bus in Golders Green. The pair were arrested and bailed to return to a north London police station.
A spokesman for Carphone Warehouse said: “The safety and welfare of our employees is our number one priority and thankfully nobody was hurt in either of these instances. We are working closely with the police on the matter and assisting them with their enquiries.”
