Budding footballers will be kitted out for a trip to the north east after receiving a grant from Hertfordshire County Council.
Councillor John Usher allocated £500 from his locality budget to the Potters Bar Primary Schools’ District Football Team which will help pay for a four-day visit to Newcastle.
The 10 and 11-year-olds will take on other teams in the area and will also be given new kit as well as equipment including balls and cones.
Manager of the club and PE teacher at Oakmere Primary School, Dean Barker said “The grant from Councillor John Usher shows the great support we have from our local community.
"The District brings children from local schools together to play different teams from across the country. The children have a fantastic experience along the way and with the help of the grant the children can experience opportunities they wouldn’t have anywhere else.”
The council launched its locality budgets in July 2009 to fund worthy social, economic or environmental project.
