A charity for people with autism has been awarded for its volunteering scheme in Barnet.
Resources for Autism (RfA), based in Finchley Road Temple Fortune, received the Investors in Volunteers accreditation which recognises the charity’s skills in recruiting, training and supporting its volunteers.
RfA has nearly 150 volunteers, including some with autism, who help out with administration and fundraising as well as working with service users in their family homes and individuals living in the community.
Director Liza Dresner said: “This accreditation is recognition of the wonderful work our volunteers do in supporting our families.
“Most give up three to four hours every week for at least six months, whatever the weather, to give a much needed break to carers.
“In return they have the privilege of making a relationship with someone who may change their view of the world forever.”
