With just days to go before the Dancing Strictly finale, nerves are running high among competitors eager to impress on the night.

Laura Tollerton, 28, and Ben Gilhooly, 26, are hoping to keep their cool when they step out on the dance floor at Millfield Theatre on Saturday.

The pair will try their best to out-dance 11 other couples who have given their time to take part in the competition in aid of North London Hospice which supports people with life limiting illnesses.

Laura from Palmers Green said: “I’m really struggling at the moment. There’s not long left to go so I’m getting nervous – I just hope we can get through the routine.”

The pair have been preparing a jive to The Lion Sleeps Tonight with the help of professional dance teachers.

Ben said: “Everyone has been incredible giving their time to help us. I’m definitely not feeling confident but I’m sure we’ll get there. We just need to polish our moves.”

Each couple has to raise at least £500 for the hospice. Laura said: “I lost my mum seven years ago - every Christmas I donate to a hospice because I know firsthand the good work they do so I thought this competition would be a fun way of raising some more money.”
