A theatre school celebrating its 20th year is polishing the dance floors of the O2 Arena in preparation for the biggest show in its history.

Members of Barnet Theatretrain, one of the first two branches of the national organisation, will join 3,000 other young performers for the grand celebration on July 14.

Rehearsals have just begun for the 26 Barnet students who will perform on the main stage in front of thousands of friends and family and director Lisa Fell says the group are looking forward to it.

She said: “It is a huge show. It is a lot of work but we’re relaxed about it – this bunch are so talented. My job is to make sure they’re on track but it is fun and for many of them this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Barnet schoolchildren are also being invited to perform in the choir at the show.

For the Theatretrain students, aged between six and 18, weekly rehearsals are already taking place at Barnet College’s Wood Street campus.

Lisa said: “It is really exciting. This is the big celebration and it is huge for everyone involved.”

Free taster sessions are available for anyone interested and new students signing up still have a chance to take part in the o2 show.
