Barnet Borough Council to host careers fair for people interested in childcare sector

A careers fair for people keen to work with children and young people will be held next month.

Barnet Borough Council will host the Jobs and Careers Fair on Thursday March 14, offering information and opportunities for volunteering, apprenticeships, jobs and training in the childcare sector.

The event will be attended by representatives from the council as well as Jobcentre Plus, Metropolitan Police, Middlesex University, Barnet and Southgate College and other organisations from the voluntary and community sectors.

Councillor Andrew Harper, cabinet member for education, children and families, said: “This Careers Fair is the largest event of its kind in the borough and the perfect opportunity to help people move forward in their careers, which may include volunteering or part time work, or trying a new job in working with children and young people.”

The event will be held at the Royal Air Force Museum in Grahame Park Way, Hendon from 10am-3.30pm.

the council just deleted (yes, deleted) the children special needs department, is going to make 460 people redundant with the transfer to Capita, makes 20 librarians redundant, severely cutting social services.
