Burst water main closes A1 lane in Hampstead Garden Suburb

One lane of the A1 in Hampstead Garden Suburb is closed because of a burst water main.

The lane is closed while emergency repairs are carried out on Aylmer Road westbound between North Hill and Bancroft Avenue.

Engineers were called out to the broken pipe yesterday and are continuing work at the site today.

The lane closure caused rush hour delays this morning but Thames Water says it expects to have completed the works by this afternoon.

A spokesman said: “We needed to close a lane in the road to carry out the repair and will be returning today to complete the resurfacing.”

“We’re really sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.”
