Homes in Enfield and Barnet affected by power cut

Houses in Barnet and Enfield have been without electricity since last night following a power cut.
UK Power Networks told customers this morning supplies had been affected in postcodes EN5 (High Barnet) to EN1 (Enfield) and that power may not be restored until 1pm this afternoon at the earliest.
Residents of Longmore Avenue and surrounding roads in East Finchley were plunged into darkness last night after the power-cut, shortly after 10pm.
The problem meant disruption for hundreds of families at the beginning of half term week as many woke to find no power.
Mother-of-two Lucie Kon, of Longmore Avenue, said: “I’m very annoyed. We’ve had power cuts before but not for this long.
“Last night I was using my mobile phone as a torch to hang the washing up and nothing works this morning – it is very frustrating.”
Ms Kon received a text message from the power supplier this morning that said: “Engineers are in the process of locating where the network faulted so repairs can commence.”
The supplier also received reports via Twitter this morning that customers in the NW9 (including West Hendon and Colindale) had been affected by a separate power cut.
In a statement, a spokesman said: "Power was interrupted to 25 customers at 10.20pm yesterday following a fault on an underground cable.
"We would like to reassure the customers affected that we are working as quickly as is safely possible to restore their power as soon as we can.
"We appreciate how difficult it can be to be without power, particularly when it is so cold, and apologise for any inconvenience."
UK Power Networks told customers the supply had been affected across five postcodes on the Enfield/Barnet border
