Schoolchildren showed off rugby shirts they had designed in front of a packed stadium ahead of the RBS 6 Nations England versus Italy game on Sunday.

Jake Essex from Totteridge Academy and Ibrahim Ahmed from Whitefield School were among 100 students representing schools from across England who had helped create the shirts as part of the Canterbury kit design workshops.

During the workshops children were told about the values of rugby and the pride associated with the shirt before being given the opportunity to put their own designs down on paper.

All 100 shirts were revealed for the first time by the students alongside England prop Alex Corbisiero and England women’s hooker Amy Turner at Twickenham.
